Privacy notice

Last updated: 10 October 2026

This notice explains what personal information we collect through this website, why, and what your rights are. We've kept it short and in plain English.

Who we are

This website is run by Ropia Energy Advisory, an energy markets advisory business based in the UK. For the purposes of UK data protection law (the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018), Ropia Energy Advisory is the controller of the personal information described here.

What we collect

If you use the contact form, we collect:

  • your name
  • your email address
  • your company name (optional)
  • your message, and anything you choose to include in it

That's it. This website doesn't set cookies, doesn't use advertising or tracking tools, and our fonts are hosted on our own site rather than loaded from third parties.

Our host, Cloudflare, provides basic website analytics (Cloudflare Web Analytics). This counts page visits in aggregate so we can see how the site is used. It doesn't use cookies or local storage and isn't used to identify you.

Why we use it, and our lawful basis

We use the details you send us only to read and reply to your enquiry and, if you ask us to, to discuss or arrange work together.

Our lawful basis is our legitimate interests in responding to people who contact us. Where your enquiry is about working with us, we also rely on taking steps at your request before entering into a contract.

Who helps us deliver this website

  • Web3Forms processes contact form submissions and forwards them to us by email. See the Web3Forms privacy policy.
  • Cloudflare hosts this website and provides the analytics described above. See the Cloudflare privacy policy.

We also use an email provider to receive and store your message. We don't sell your information, share it with anyone else for their own purposes, or use it for marketing.

International transfers

Some of the service providers above may process data outside the UK. Where they do, we rely on them to use appropriate safeguards recognised under UK law, such as adequacy regulations or standard contractual clauses.

How long we keep it

Our policy is to keep enquiry information only for as long as we need it to deal with your enquiry and any work that follows. We review what we hold at least once a year, and if there's no ongoing relationship we delete enquiries within two years.

Your rights

You have the right to:

  • ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you (access)
  • ask us to correct anything that's wrong (rectification)
  • ask us to delete it (erasure)
  • ask us to limit how we use it (restriction)
  • object to how we use it (objection)
  • ask for it in a portable format (portability)

To use any of these rights, just get in touch through the contact form. We'll respond within one month.

Complaints

If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, please tell us first so we can try to put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK's data protection regulator: ico.org.uk or 0303 123 1113.

Changes to this notice

We may update this notice from time to time, for example if we change the services we use. The latest version will always be on this page, with the date it was last updated at the top.
